Sunday Runday!

Oh what a run! It's as if today's gorgeous sunshine makes up for the torrential downpour we had for 3 days straight... maybe not. Seriously I do actually like the rain but the last few days were a bit much. Today was the perfect day to run, I love it when it's sunny and cool, my favorite temperature.
We ran just about 12km, so not a super long run but I certainly felt it after the 8km yesterday. There were definitely a few twinges in my right leg, I think because of all the trips to my chiropractor. I imagine it will take a few weeks for my right side to catch up in strength to the left. Until then, I'll just have to do the exercises and be okay with those little twinges and the extra soreness.
As I was running I began to think about everything coming up, I've got the Golden Ears Half Marathon next Sunday, and drum roll please.... two weeks from today I will be running through Times Square in New York City! I can't believe it's almost here, it was such a surprise to make it into the lottery to run that race back in the fall, I wasn't even sure I was going to be able to come. I also get to go with my Sister, I can't wait, we haven't been on a trip together since we were children, it's going to be so much fun!

Before all my races I spend some time considering what I'd like to wear. The NYC Half is taking place on St. Patrick's Day!  I couldn't help myself, I'm going to be in NYC so it will be a special race for me, I have to dress up right?

Here's my plan so far:
13in2013 Shirt, Lululemon Cool Racerback in Mint, Brisk Run Arm Warmers, Team Sparkle Skirt, Lululemon Pace Setter Skirt, Argyle Team Sparkle Race Legs, and St. Patty's headband and necklace!

I'm currently debating about my shirt. Although I love my 13in2013 shirt, I bought the non-tech shirt version so it's just regular cotton.  I think I might get pretty cold once I start sweating. I was thinking of getting a Lululemon swiftly top in the mint... hmm do I really need another lulu shirt? Probably not. I'm also going to bring my 'magic pants' with me in case it's too cold for the skirt.

I got the news that the product for the giveaway is on it's way and in the mail now! Are you excited? I am!

Friday News: What's that about a GIVEAWAY?

It has been an up/down week for me, my runs have gone well but the last couple days it has been POURING rain. I don't mean like normal Vancouver pouring rain, I mean stand outside for two seconds and you are completely drenched. It's not the most exciting weather to go for a run in or to take a 15-month old to the park. I managed to go spinning tonight and do a workout including my new exercises from the chiropractor:
These exercises are surprisingly difficult for me, I wasn't expecting that. But I suppose they should be hard since they are meant to make my right hip stronger so that I can support my lower back better and reduce soreness/pain. I'm hoping that this among many of the things I've been doing will help me improve my speed and prevent injuries while running.

Something else happened this week (a definite UP!), someone told me I inspire them. What? Me? I sort of looked around to see if they were talking to someone else. How could little old me inspire anyone? This amazed me, total motivation to keep going and keep getting stronger, it reminded me of this which I saw on Pinterest:

The blog has certainly grown over the last few months, so it's almost time for a little celebration!!! There will be a product review and wait for it... A GIVEAWAY! That's all I'm going to say for now, but stay tuned and be sure to look at the right hand side of the blog and click "join this site" or "follow by email" so you don't miss out on this Giveaway, it's going to be awesome!

Work It Out Wednesday: I think I'm going to puke...

So today I started out with my very first trip to the chiropractor. I was nervous as I've never been to a chiropractor before but this particular doctor had been to the Running Room and just about every runner I know has visited his clinic in the past. I wanted to go because I've experienced a lot of lower back pain recently, well even since being pregnant and constantly lifting Griffin up. I also want to prevent my knee from becoming further injured since I have so many races coming up. It turned out really well actually. He says that my back isn't too bad and that in about 5 treatments I should be feeling a lot better. This particular chiropractor uses the Active Release Technique so there is no "cracking" of the joints, sometimes you're not even sure they're doing anything. I was very comfortable and I don't feel very sore. He did some investigating with my left knee, where I have Runner's Knee, he thinks I may have also torn my Meniscus at some point. Of course I came straight home and looked up what that meant, nothing too serious but it was interesting to get a more definitive of answer of what might have happened to my knee.

I came home and did some spinning and then this evening I headed to hill training. I felt/feel disgusting, I was so ready to puke after the first 30 seconds up the hill but I did it. I'm not sure if it's the lingering flu or just the hill training itself but I still don't feel 100%. After hill training I headed over to Equilibria for my workout, it was a great workout despite how I was feeling post-hills. We did lots of legwork so I think I might be a little sore tomorrow. I feel my strength and endurance improving and I'm still losing weight. Of course I finished off my evening with some chocolate milk and now I'm more than ready to turn in for the night and get a good sleep!

GOOD NIGHT.
