NovRunStreak Fail
I reluctantly dragged myself out of the bed and headed down to the basement to get it done on the treadmill. I was hardly awake with about 3 hours of sleep... I ran a mile, it was torture, I felt awful. I hadn't felt fully recovered from my half marathon the previous Sunday. To me, this seemed ridiculous. I've run so many half's back-to-back and been fine the next day so why would a slow one be plaguing me for so long. My answer, I've never run every day post race.
So after only 1 mile, I hopped off the treadmill and headed upstairs to shower and grab my suitcase before driving to Seattle to catch our flight. I knew that I wouldn't be running that second mile later in the day either as we weren't going to land in Florida until 11:30PM. So it didn't work for me. That's the thing about mixing up your training, it doesn't always work out the way you planned. In the end, it is much better that I did not try to attempt to continue streaking on our trip (you'll have to wait for my Wine and Dine recap to find out why). Though, I know for a fact that we walked over 6 miles in the parks on Friday and Saturday and then of course my half marathon stretched from Saturday night into Sunday morning. So I suppose those could have counted but to me it was not the intended purpose of the run streak and I've chosen to bow out. I found myself dreading my daily run, even at only 3km, where as during a normal week I would run 5km+ every other day and enjoy it.
I am still providing prizes to Solana for those who complete the challenge! And for those of you that do, it is not easy, so be proud of yourself for making that commitment!
After a whole year of accomplishing things I never thought I could, I am sad to have not completed this challenge but I just didn't feel healthy while doing it and as always listening to your body is an important part of training.

We're Going Streaking!
It is a double post kind of day!
I was going to post this tomorrow but if you are actually interested in joining us, that may not work for you.
It is no secret that I have been slacking on my runs since the marathon and I needed something other than the half marathons I have coming up to keep me going... So, on a whim, I decided to join Solana from Beast Mode on the Run and commit to a running streak; running 3km daily for the whole month of November.
For the most part, this shouldn't be an issue, it is only 3km and I have a treadmill. However, the only thing that may throw a wrench into my plans, is our weekend trip to Florida for the Disneyworld Wine and Dine Half Marathon... Obviously, I will be covered on race day, it is the other days I'm concerned about.
If you'd like to join us, Solana has set up a google doc to add your name and record how many kilometers you run each day. You can run more than 3km you just have to run at least 3km every day. So far there are only 22 people. There will be prizes, so if you're interested, you better get your name in there because streaking starts TOMORROW!
