Runner's Anonymous?

I have a problem. Originally I signed up for 13in2013 which meant I would be doing 13 half marathons in 2013. I did 5 halves in 6 months last year (3 of which were all in November) so it's really not that far fetched. However, I've gone a little mad, I'm now signed up for 16 this year and there's still more I want to do. I AM ADDICTED TO RACING...

This is getting to be expensive and I'm already a busy person, what am I doing? I honestly thing 16 has to be the end for this year but there's just so many great races. How do you decide which races to do this year and which ones to save for the future? I've joined the Half Fanatics Asylum, I guess that's where they send people who are addicted to running half marathons, maybe someone needs to start "Runner's Anonymous". I guess it's just all going to be part of the journey to a full marathon, I'm not so sure I'd be able to do as many of those in 1 year.

If you haven't been keeping track, here's what 2013 looks like for me, there's been some tough decisions but I think this HAS to be the final list (maybe...):

  2. Awesome race calendar!!! I thinks it's a great goal! I am one of those crazy people who run 13-16 full marathons a year. I had some friends who started doing what you are doing with half's thinking they could never do that many full marathon's in one year... But now they are all members of Marathon Maniac's who I think before long will be crazier then me:)

    1. That's awesome, I can't even imagine that many marathons! I'm hoping that this many half's will fuel my courage to do a full one!

  3. That's an impressive schedule! I'm running my first half this year (Disney Princess) and also plan to do the Wine and Dine in November. I have a feeling I will be addicted once I cross the finish line in a few weeks :)

    1. Oh you totally will! My first half was the Nike Women's Marathon in 2010, it was AMAZING! I felt dead tired when I crossed but it was worth every second. A Disney race is a great place to start, enjoy every moment, stop for pictures and have tons of fun!!!

  4. Looks like a great year! I wish my finances would allow travel. Maybe next year. Just be careful not to overdo and end up injured!

    1. I hope you get a chance to travel to some races soon, it's a totally different experience. I was lucky that my family was willing to plan their vacation where I want to race, I don't think it will be like that every year! This year is definitely my dream year for races. I'm scared of injuries, I already have some problems with one knee and I've been learning to manage that over the last 6 months. I think as long as I remember to taper in between the races I will do OK... Hopefully!

  5. I'd love to do the Wine and Dine but my husband and I decided to go back and run the Tower of Terror again. If only we could make both happen!! Looks like such a fun year of racing you have planned. I'm likely to have more than 13 races in 2013 myself at the end of the day, but mine are all mixed distance.

    1. I just read about Tower of Terror the other day! It looks like so much fun, I look forward to hearing about it :) Wine & Dine will be great too though, mainly the part about finishing at the food & wine expo, haha! 13in2013 is great, it's really upped the motivation for me and the way I've planned it, it looks like ill be done 13 by August then the rest will just be gravy!
