THE Marathon

You may remember a little while ago where I mentioned that I was considering a full Marathon this year (blog post here) in conjunction with my crazy 13in2013 challenge. Well the debate is finally over! I will be running the Surrey International World Music Marathon on September 29, 2013. What better place to take on my first full marathon than right here at home? To top it off, I just got the news that I will be named an Official Surrey Marathon Blogger!

I am so honored to have been considered and chosen to be an Official Surrey Marathon Blogger. I've noticed a lot of other races choose only professional athletes and big name bloggers for their official blog ambassadors. Although I find a lot of athletes and successful sponsored bloggers very inspiring and informative, it's nice to see what a regular person like me can accomplish when they put their mind to it. I'm so pleased that the Surrey International World Music Marathon have included a local blogger like me to be a part of this amazing event!

Since the blogs inception this has to be the most exciting news I've gotten and shared with all of you. My journey to making this decision hasn't been easy and my journey towards my first full Marathon in September isn't going to be any easier but I know I am ready for this.

I'm quickly approaching 13 half marathons for 2013 (June 23rd completion), when I started the year that goal seemed so daunting, I never thought I'd be finished within 6 months, and now a full marathon, 2013 is going to be a really BIG year!

When I started the blog I really just needed an outlet to write about my experiences but it has turned into something much more amazing and rewarding than I could have ever imagined. Being told that you inspire someone is truly the greatest feeling. I believe that anyone who has the courage to sign up for a marathon is inspiring, so what do you think? Will join me in running this great race? You can register here!

If you are not going to run you might want to consider volunteering? You can sign up for that here. I am planning on volunteering as well, hopefully at package pickup on Saturday!

There are other distances to choose from besides the full such as a Half Marathon, Relay, Mayors 5k, and Kids Fun Run!

I did the Half Marathon last year and had a great time! It was a well organized event, great weather, tons of happy volunteers, and some pretty awesome race bling:

So what's next? Well this Saturday I'm running the Whistler Half Marathon (17th lifetime half, 11th half for 2013) and then I'll be getting ready to begin full Marathon training on June 11th! Wow, I can't believe I just said that, this is really happening... I've got a date with 42.2km!

Just registered for the 1/2 marathon, this is my first one. I am also registered for the Disney World Marathon this coming January and that's my big goal I'm working towards.
