Book Review: The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls

I originally picked this out because I really really loved The Glass Castle by the same author. It wasn't as good but it was still decent quick read.
My rating (via GoodReads): 3/5 stars
Kobo Price: $14.99

The story surrounds the lives of 2 young sisters living in California in the 1970s. Their mother clearly has some issues and they are forced to find somewhere else to live. They take a bus together to Virgina where their mother's family is from but whom they haven't seen since they were babies.

When they arrive they begin to learn who their mother was and about the town where she grew up. They develop a relationship with their uncle and help take care of the property where he resides. They each grow more independent from each other and from their mother.

Overall, it was a decent book, but not quite as amazing as the Glass Castle.
